As reported on Channel 8 news and here at WFAA.com, thousands of fish ended up on the banks of Lake Grapevine in a fish kill Tuesday. The cause of the fish kill is unknown. Usually it is a lack of oxygen that is responsible for the fish kill.
I drove by the south end of Lake Grapevine today and did not see any of the dead fish as mentioned in the article above. If you look at the photos in that article it looks like the photos are near Scott’s Landing Marina. Also from the photos it looks like most of the deceased fish are very small.
The extreme heat of the summer certainly plays a roll. Lake Texoma on the northern border of Texas will be closed this weekend on one of the busiest weekends of the year for boaters. Lake Texoma has an algae bloom that is not safe for humans.
This heat cannot end soon enough.
