I fished the banks near Katie’s Woods boat ramp this morning. I arrived at the ramp around dawn and it looked like a tournament there had just started.
The water was very clear and somewhat calm at dawn. I caught two little black bass (one of them pictured) in about 30 minutes. Both were caught on 7-inch purple worms. The bites were very aggressive as well which meant it was probably going to be a very good morning to fish.
By 6:30 am the wind picked up to 20-25 miles per hour. Big white caps were starting to roll across Lake Grapevine. I did not really feel like fighting that much wind so I packed up an headed home. I will stop back by sometime later this week to fish that point again.
When the wind blows in on a point…. it causes the bait fish to blow in, and then the bass to stack in on the point… then you can sack em… its called stack them and sack them…. you only have to learn to cast into the wind… a side arm with the lure close to the water is best, otherwise, the lure can end up somewhere behind you.
